Dear Yuletide Author - 2020
Hello Yuletide writer!
Yuletide is one of my highlights of the year - what's better to avoid the summer heat (I'm an Aussie) than staying indoors and writing/reading stories? First off, I want you to enjoy yourself, so if you have an AMAZING IDEA then please go ahead and write it! These are just some starting points if you want inspiration :)
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) [Valerian, Laureline]
"Worldbuilding! Show me more of this bustling galaxy while Valerian and Laureline kick ass :D"
I honestly don't have much more to add, besides pointing out the RICH OPPORTUNITIES for crossovers (totally optional). Though if you want to go down a different route and do some backstory, I will love that too. Where did they come from? How did they meet? (I have a feeling their first mission together did not go well...) Where will their next assignment take them?
Shazam! (2019) [Billy, Freddy]
"Missions and supervillians! Exams and family feels! General shenanigans!"
I don't mind where you go with this - backstory, domestic fluff (with the rest of the family, of course), superhero adventures, getting together or just being BFFs. I love how irreverent this movie is, poking fun at superhero tropes while still having some serious found family feels.
Hawkeye (Comics) [Clint and/or Lucky]
"Adventures, domestic fluff, backstories ... I'm happy if you write just Clint or Lucky, or throw in Kate/other people too."
Again, happy with whatever plotbunny appears in your brain! I'd love some Clint backstory (haven't read any other comics, just this one and the MCU movies), or more crazy missions with Kate. Does Lucky meet Goose the cat/flerken? (or the Horrible Goose?) Does Lucky go on vigilante missions of his own?
Pagan Chronicles - Catherine Jinks [Roland, Pagan]
"I do love a good mismatched duo - adventures, slice-of-life, childhood stories, anything really! But no slash, please (DNW)."
I love how loyal these two are to each other, despite being so different and occasionally being infuriated by each other. I've read all the books so I don't mind what stage you set the story at (though I prefer it when they're closer together, i.e. the first three books). Just give me some good Pagan snark and I will be happy ;)

In general:
I like humour (dark or light), wordplay, clever people being clever, worldbuilding, action and so on. I like playing around with genre tropes and good old-fashioned romance/friendship/family feels. Any crossovers/AUs/gen/slash/het you feel like throwing in there is fine!
I don't like explicit torture descriptions, or extensive sex scenes - people getting hurt or horny is fine, but please avoid graphic details. I do prefer happy or at least bittersweet endings (but I won't be devastated if your story demands something else!)
You can look at my AO3 bookmarks/stories to see what I like (or my journal, but it's been neglected lately...) Thank you for sharing my love of these fandoms, dear writer - have fun! Happy Yuletide!
