Dear Yuletide Author - 2013

Hello Yuletide Author!

This is only my second year doing Yuletide - thoroughly enjoyed last year, hope this year is just as fun! I haven't written much on Ao3 yet, but I have some other stories here on Dreamwidth if you want to look through and see what I like.

If you get a wonderful idea you really want to write, please go ahead! These are just some suggestions if you want some starting points :D

Fandom 1: Kingkiller Chronicles - Patrick Rothfuss

'Backstory for Auri! And some more conversations between her and Kvothe if you want.'

It doesn't have to be backstory, it can be present or future, I just find Auri fascinating! I'd also be interested in Devi, Kvothe and Master Elodin if you want to include them interacting with Auri. I particularly love the originality, humour and worldbuilding of the books.

Fandom 2: Italian Job (2003)

'Future adventures of Charlie and Stella! Does he lead her into a life of crime, or does Stella have her own ideas?'

I'm a sucker for heist stories, not so good at writing them, so something similar to the movie itself (with the old team if you like) would be great! I love how nearly every character has their own take on life and the wry humour the movie's filled with.

Fandom 3: Swordspoint Series - Ellen Kushner

'Richard and Alec and how their complex personalities mesh into a beautiful, problematic love'

Richard and Alec make me squee, so I'd be happy with anything featuring them (and any other people you want to throw in!) A swordfight would be awesome :D I like the darkness of their relationship, but I like happy resolutions too . . . My favourite bits of Kushner's writing is the flow of her prose, exciting and delicate and dark and sexy in turns.

Fandom 4: Slings and Arrows

'What on earth did Geoffrey and Darren get up to at university? Let the shenanigans commence!'

I love these two's arrogance and flamboyance, and the banter and the theatre commentary of the series in general. Any elaboration of the intriguing pasts of these two characters (and/or Oliver and Ellen) would be interesting. And if you wanted to work a production of Much Ado About Nothing into it as well, I'm all ears!

Fandom 5: The Brothers Bloom (2008)

'Future adventures of Bloom and Penelope (and Bang Bang)!'

I love how much fun this movie is, the adventures and wacky characters and how these two awkward people found love (and an unwritten life) in each other. Anything with these two (and Bang Bang if you like) would be amazing - extra backstory into Stephen and Bloom's or Penelope's childhoods would be awesome too.

Fandom 6: Are You Alice?

'How did these two become friends? They don't really seem the type!'

The severe lack of backstory for these two makes me twitch - I'd love to see how Dormouse managed to get on Hatter's good side, and vice versa! If you want to throw in some arguments with Alice as well, that would be appreciated :D I love the dialogue and not-really-trying-to-hide-it creepiness of the series.

In general:

I like humour (dark or light), clever dialogue/general wordplay, action and descriptions. Any AU/crossovers/gen/slash/het you like!

I don't like explicit sex or torture descriptions - people getting hurt or horny is fine, but please hint or stay light with it and don't go into the full details.

Thanks for sharing my crazy fandoms and offering to write for them! Happy Yuletide!
