Dear Yuletide Author - 2017
Hello dear Yuletide writer!
Yuletide is one of my highlights of the end of year - what's better to avoid the summer heat (I'm an Aussie) than staying indoors and writing/reading stories? First off, I want you to enjoy yourself, so if you have an AMAZING IDEA then please go ahead and write it! These are just some starting points if you want some inspiration :)
Six of Crows Series - Leigh Bardugo [Jesper Fahey, Wylan van Eck]
"Anything with these darling boys - quiet night at home, solving some business problem, childhood flashbacks, mending the holes in each others' hearts, or just SHENANIGANS!"
OH GOD these two totally stole my heart in Crooked Kingdom! Soulmates soothing each others' insecurities is one of my favourite tropes ^^ That said, I will be just as happy to have a story with these two interacting with their parents and/or partners in crime. Though I'm sure a hyperactive sharpshooter and a pyromaniac can get into plenty of trouble by themselves!
N.B. I haven't read the Grisha Trilogy, just this series, so if you want to put something in from the Grisha books then please explain it!
Saga (Comics) [Marko, Alana]
"Backstory for these two! We've seen a little of Marko's childhood - what about Alana's? What is it like on their home worlds?"
(From a previous year's prompt) I am madly in love with these two, so I'd be happy with anything you write, really. Especially crossovers with other space-based fandoms!! But backstory would be wonderful. This is such an amazing world - but we've seen very little of Landfall and Wreath themselves! The war has been outsourced, but how much pressure is there back home for young people to contribute to it? Was Alana ever conflicted about it growing up? What were Marko's schooldays in a magic-wielding society like?

N.B. Regarding spoilers: I've only read up to Volume 6 at the time of writing this letter - I'm not following individual issues, so please set the story before or up to the events at the end of the sixth volume!
Megamind (2010) [Megamind, Roxanne Ritchi]
"Future adventures! Is there a Supervillian Club Megamind has offended by turning good? Do Roxanne's nosy reporter skills unearth a dangerous story? Perhaps Music Man's debut concert is interrupted by something, and they have to solve it without revealing Metro Man's secret!"
(From a previous year's prompt) I just love the exuberant craziness of this film! I've talked about futurefic ideas, but I wouldn't mind seeing some Roxanne backstory either. And the film skipped over Megamind's rise to villany after blowing up his Shoolhouse - plenty of detail to fill in there! Again, feel free to add in any other characters you like.

I like humour (dark or light), wordplay, clever people being clever, worldbuilding, action and so on. I like playing around with genre tropes and good old-fashioned romance/friendship/family feels. Any crossovers/AUs/gen/slash/het you feel like throwing in there is fine!
I don't like explicit torture descriptions, or extensive sex scenes - people getting hurt or horny is fine, but please avoid graphic details. I do prefer happy or at least bittersweet endings (but I won't be devastated if your story demands something else!)
